- Longhorn Preservation committee formed
- Town contacted Goshen County School District to purchase building
- Town came to an agreement with School District for separation from Elementary
School prior to purchase
- Received 1.4 million grant from Wyoming Business Council's Community
Facilities Grant Program for renovation into Business and Recreation Center
with offices rental space upstairs and daycare, preschool, museum, library,
computer center, and EWC outreach center/classroom on main floor. Fitness
center on lower level.
- Town purchased the high school building from the school district on
June 5th 2008.
- Separated the elementary school from the high school by blocking in
all opening between the schools and have separated all electrical and
plumbing by the time school started Aug 20th 2008
- Finished design of building in Dec. 2008
- Project went out to bid Feb. 2009
- Waterlines completed March 2009
- Bids came in over budget. Redesigned to lower budget
- July 2009 working on budget with low bid contractor
- August 2009 signed contract to proceed with project
- Began construction late August 2009
- Construction slowed due to weather
- Applied for grant to replace all exterior windows through the Wyoming
Business Council State Energy Office Federal ARRA Retrofit Program
- Granted funds for windows and are executing the Grant Agreement February
2010.
